➤ Teleportation via portals

As with other Barians, Mako can manifest portals to travel quickly between places. These portals manifest as a swirling crimson galaxy behind him. An example can be seen here.

There are two kinds of portals. Interdimensional portals allow travel between the Barian World and the human world. They can be opened anywhere in either world, rather than having fixed locations. The other kind of portal are In-Dimension Portals, which allow him to move between two points in the same world regardless of distance. Portals take almost no energy and can be used even while exhausted.

➤ Reduced sense of pain

As with all Barians, it's very difficult to cause him pain in Barian form. However because of his unique status his pain recognition is normal in human form, unlike the others. This leads to some hilarity when he can be hit by a truck in Barian form with no issue, but will be brought down by a football to the crotch in human form.

➤ Damage Resistance

As with the others, he's hard to actually damage. Contrary to what one would expect, his human form has gained durability by the change, though it's still more fragile than the barian form. His barian form could probably shrug off a hit from a tank. He isn't yet used to it, so he still reacts as if things he's immune to are going to kill him, though he's learnt not to actually say that since it freaks out the rest.

Mako doesn't need his D-Gazer to watch a duel or see otherwise invisible monsters like Numbers 96. He just needs to trigger his vision power, turning his left eye deep blue.

➤ Rank Up Magic Barian's Force

This is a special card that has two functions. When used on a regular human, it will allow them to be mind-controlled, usually by implanting the will of the user within that human. Mako has not yet tried this, not wanting to.

When used in a duel, it allows summoned XYZ monsters, including Numbers, to upgrade into an artificial form that does not actually have a physical card to compare itself to. This form is stronger, but in the case of Numbers, is harder to resist. This effect was developed as a weapon by the Barians, but as a result, they cannot use it in human form. Because of that, prior to the Sphere Field's development, it was used by brainwashed humans instead.

➤ Vision Sharing

By either creating viewing screens out of energy for other people to see, or directly implanting his memories into their mind, he can show things to other people. The latter drains him heavily, however.

➤ Baria Crystal Regeneration

By producing a crimson aura he can regenerate Baria Crystals that come into contact with it, including those used in the Baria Lapis. They won't be regenerated endlessly, only to their last "complete" state, meaning crystals that have been cut into shapes will be restored to those shapes.

➤ Super Strength

All Barians seem to have some level of exceptional strength, but Asch isn't too far behind Merak. However, his strength mostly manifests as a result of anger; when he's infurated or defending someone, he can bring it out to the best of his ability because he's pushing his limits.

➤ Lightning Strike

He can fire electricity from his right hand to attack with. These bolts head directly forward in a slightly zigzag pattern, and violently shock people they hit. They aren't so powerful as to be instantly fatal or even have a high chance of it unless you have a heart condition, but they will hurt and stun those they hit, often leaving more fragile people incapacitated for a while afterwards. They can also fry electronics. This only works in Barian form.

➤ Postcognition

Like his sister, Mako holds some latent psychic ability. However, this is limited to after he awakens as Barian, and manifests primarily in dreams. Don Thousand has locked away the ability to see the human lives of the others, though this is breakable if in an area immensely relevant to them, such as the ruins housing his Numbers. His talents can be utilized when awake only in the presence of something relevant, and usually manifest more as feelings or stray lines whispered into his mind than the full visions of his dreams.
